The Mth Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor played by Matthew Mills. This incarnation has appeared in both fan made films and audio dramas from Lungbarrow Brothers and Man-At-Desk Productions, having appeared in the formers anniversary special Dark Impulses, and stars in his own series for the latter group.
His previous incarnation is The Noir Doctor, and his successor is The Swagger Doctor.
Character.[]
This place is like a prison... a construct... a thing. Yeah. - The Matthew Mills Doctor, on the psychic construct dimension.
This Doctor is an ever-inquisitive Doctor, always questioning the situations he finds himself in, as well as questioning himself. His incarnation is more restrained than Nth and Xth incarnations of the Doctor, but still seeks to right wrongs and fight evil in the cosmos. He is a very indefinite incarnation, the direct opposite of his more assertive predecessor, The Noir Doctor.
It is implied in "Dark Impulses" that he is not part of the same line as the Xth or Nth Doctors, not recognising either of them. It is later told in "Th Janus Paradigm" that both timelines share one Doctor which, thanks to a split decision, leads to two different incarnations that go on to become the Lungbarrow Brothers and the Man-At-Desk Productions lines of Doctors. This Doctor's line begins with Pnut
His previous incarnation, the Noir Doctor, is seen in "The Last Stand".
The brief glimpse we see of him in "Dark Impulses" implies a certain familiarity with isolation and self-conversation ("at least I've got myself for company, and I do make a great conversationalist"). He is implied to be working with someone - most likely UNIT - though the exact nature of their relationship is not made clear in the special (though may be a number of characters shown in later episodes). In "The Last Stand", it is shown that his previous incarnation had a working relationship with UNIT, and he seems willing to report to the Brigadier following his regeneration. In "The First Step", he is shown working with the Brigadier and with Private Robert Malcolm.
He is apparently less confident than other incarnations, sounding uncertain of every idea he has, (to the point where he will have a one man debate about topics) but when faced with threats to the cosmos, he is as determined as any other Doctor.
Stories.[]
DARK IMPULSES
This Doctor's first appearance was in the episode "Dark Impulses", where he is apparently on a mission looking for a missing girl when he is trapped in a psychic construct. He manages to overcome it by pulling the construct into s own mind. Following this, he joined the other Doctors to stop the sentient reality's accidental invasion of our plane, and succeeded, returning to his home dimension safely. It is unclear as of yet where this story takes place in the Doctor's timeline as he has yet to don the outfit or be equipped with that model of Sonic Screwdriver. Given the more raggedy nature of the Doctor's jacket, it seems to suggest that this takes place later on in his timeline.
THE LAST STAND
His first chronological appearance was in "The Last Stand", where we see his regeneration from the The Noir Doctor. He seems relieved at the restoration of the timeline, and at the Brigadier's phone call. He also seems satisfied that the universe is returned to its normal state. He spends this and much of the next episode in his predecessor's clothes.
THE FIRST STEP
His next appearance is "The First Step", set directly after "The Last Stand". He is shown to be inquisitive, eager to help, and excitable when faced with the "living shadow". This episode gave us the introduction to Private Robert Malcolm, who would become one of the Doctor's companions (similar to Harry Sullivan for the Fourth Doctor). This appearance established this incarnation's habit of questions and talking to himself.
HOLLOW HEARTS
In "Hollow Hearts" we see the Doctor be placed into an "otherworld" to match wits with "The Husk" who has taken his form as some sort of dark reflection. It was in this adventure that he failed to save anyone.
RUN
During the events of "Run" (the first script for this Doctor written by Jed T.E Rhdoes) the Doctor is on the run from a creature being controlled by a mysterious figure. To his dismay, the Doctor was forced to help Private Malcolm kill the creature which intrigued the figure further about this incarnation about the Doctor. This, along with his serious tone back in "Dark Impulses" suggests that, much like the 2nd or 11th Doctor, this Doctor, while lighthearted, has a darker side.
CREATURE WITHIN
"Creature Within" sees the Doctor successfully dealing with a threat in a local forest, only for his containment to glitch out. He and UNIT scientist, Violet Valentine, work together to stop the deadly Calimark Ripper.
In "Creature Within" he tells a UNIT scientist, Violet Valentine, that she is "apart of the team". This gives him two companions much like his 4th, 5th, and 11th canon counterparts. She earns her place after helping to defeat a Calimark Ripper that the Doctor shrank. He seems very happy to have "Vivi" along, getting quite giddy when she suggests restraining the creature. Vivi's smirk at the end of the episode implies a greater character motivation.
FADED REFLECTIONS
"Faded Reflections" sees the Doctor and Malcolm back in the UNIT base trying to disarm an alien bomb. Malcolm meets a Future Doctor who has his Dark Impulses jacket but has gotten rid of his smart shirt. He isn't travelling with anyone and his reaction to a "new companion" seems to hint of some trauma that the present Doctor has yet to face. It seems that the Future Doctor is from nearer the end of his timeline.
THE THOUSAND DEATHS OF THE DOCTOR
In the series 2 finale "The Thousand Deaths of the Doctor", The Doctor is caught in a never ending loop, being chased by a mysterious being. He is once again by himself although he does keep in contact with a rather confused Brigadier Johnson-Smyth. This episode leads on directly to the series 3 opener.
Both Robert Malcolm and Vivi are absent in this episode, showing that they both are still locked into their UNIT duties at the time, giving a unique contrast to companions of the past as neither take residence in the TARDIS like the more familial characters who have come before.
THE ARRIVAL
In "The Arrival" Emma from the Lungbarrow Brothers Doctor Who series, appears, recognising this as the Doctor from his terrible fashion sense and strange personality. The Doctor takes her back to UNIT HQ.
This minisode (filmed at the same time as the previous) sets up the next arc: The Emma Arc with the Doctor trying to help Emma get back to her own Doctor.
COMPARISONS
"Comparisons" shows the Doctor actively investigating Emma's disappearance by examining her the scene of the crime in his universe. At the same time the Jed Rhodes Doctor is looking for his missing companion.
Filmed in the earlier days of the channel, this minisode was originally set to be apart of a larger episode however the atmosphere of the searching scenes proved worthy of a minisode of this arc.
PRISONER OF THE VOID
The Prisoner of the Void has escaped and it is up to the Doctor teaming up with other Doctors (including The Nth Doctor and The Xth Doctor to get the entity, disguising itself as a child, back into its prison.
Prisoner of the Void marks the first Fan Audio on the channel as well as the first multiDoctor special.
CONVERGENCE
The end of the Emma ARC, is shows Emma seeing the Doctor (busy at UNIT) to thank him for looking after her off screen. The base becomes under attack by a Calimark Ripper. Both Emma's Doctor and this Doctor discuss how to take care of it.
This episode hints further at the darker side of this Doctor by implying that the device he gave Emma pervious was intended to kill the alien, as well as getting a tamed Ripper "HobKnob" to fight the natural one.
THE JANUS PARADIGM
While not an episode for this Doctor, it is partially narrated by them and tells of the origin of the split timeline.
THE NEXUS POINT
A huge crossover with not just the Jed Rhodes Doctor but with multiple other Doctors across timelines. Due to the actions of A previous incarnation of the Doctor, a Doctor from another timeline has been sent to kill him and shut down the titular Nexus Point, a prison that the past Doctor has created. It is up to all Doctors to stop time from ripping apart, dragging their companions along for the ride.
CROSSING THE BRIDGE
The Doctor meets the The Fairytale Doctor (as played by George Guidera) in a tear in the universe.
It's important to note that the Mth Doctor seems rather calm about the tear in the universe, hinting that he has been dealing with this before.
IRON WILL
The Iron Woman has a house call in this minisode as the Doctor comes during her campaign of destruction.
Based on the audition script for the 7th Doctor
LOST
Gemma *REDACTED* finds herself in a forest on an unknown planet. She knows little about where she is but luckily who she is has multiple answers, she's just to aware of many of them. Gemma finds the Doctor or did he find her? The Doctor does his best to try to calmly understand the situation but Gemma's answers, her own identity, are in flux. The Doctor tells Gemma the truth, that she isn't real. He explains a Husk (see "Hollow Hearts") haunted the woods, hunting people down. Now, after taking so many psyches during their hunts, the Husk became a person, an amalgam of the people the Husk killed. The Doctor offers a solution, letting her mind settle to one to become truly human.
The first audiobook released for this Doctor, while it first appeared on Mills' own YouTube is was later moved to Man-At-Desk Productions Man-At-Desk Productions.
ARRANGEMENTS
The Doctor is called to the last moments of an old foe, Alt, who tells him that he called the Doctor to see him through to the afterlife in line with his religion. The Doctor stays with him until he dies.
INTERVIEW
Anna Price is keep in the clutches of Vertigo who have imprisoned her since she was young. One day the Doctor interrupts a routine meeting with her. He talks to her while UNIT shuts down the building. When Anna asks why, the Doctor takes responsibility for it, saying he should have come across Vertigo sooner. Anna becomes the Doctor's new companion.
MEMORY LANE
In Anna's first proper trip on the TARDIS she asks the Doctor to help her uncover who she is now. The Doctor says she could start from the beginning to see if that gives her an idea. They head to a friend of the Doctor's only to find their medical centre abandoned. Each room they come to brings them to a new memory. They later find that the Doctor's friend, Gaiman lost their husband and in his grief dived into his memories for comfort. Anna convinces him to come out of the memories to make new ones.
Companions.[]
In "Dark Impulses", the Doctor is seen conversing with an unknown individual on the phone: whether this is a companion or a representative of UNIT or a similar organisation is as yet unknown. Whoever this individual is, the Doctor speaks to them with a certain familiarity. It is possible that he is speaking to the Brigadier, though that cannot be said with any certainty yet.
In "The First Step", the Brigadier gives him an assignment, and Robert Malcolm, a UNIT private, works with him. Robert Malcolm seems a soldier through and through as his first response to meeting the "Living Shadow" is to shoot it. Private Malcolm appears again in "Run" where he is sent to help the Doctor again but is only able to successfully kill the creature chasing them when the Doctor modifies Malcolm's gun. This acts seems to strike something in Private Malcolm as evidenced by his shock at the Doctor doing such a thing. Private Malcolm's reaction to aliens threats seems to be "shoot it" if the Doctor doesn't tell him otherwise (which he seems to expect more).
Violet Valentine (known mostly as Vivi) is a different breed of UNIT staff, she displays a more questioning nature than Malcolm (possibly due to her being a Scientist). She suggests ideas to the Doctor. During Creature Within she ultimately comes up with the way to defeat the Calimark Ripper. At the end of her debut episode, the Doctor tells her that she is on the team. This marks the first time in this series that the Doctor actively recruits a companion (rather than accepting an assigned companion like Malcolm). Although both companions work for UNIT, Vivi seems to actively make weaponry as well as be a scientist for them (she comments how it is better to trust weapons you make while holding a small gun). Vivi also has a EMP on her during her debut episode but it is unclear whether this is one she made or was fixing for UNIT.
Anna Price first appears in "Interview" and is the Doctor's companion in the ongoing audiobooks on the channel. She is described as having long black hair and possesses psychic abilities. In "Memory Lane" it's mentioned that even as a child Vertigo would give her tests to do (implies to involve moving toy soldiers with her mind).
Appearance.[]
The Doctor's outfit in "The Last Stand" and most of "The First Step" is the ill-fitting suit of the Noir Doctor. In "Dark Impulses", the outfit is in some respects superficially similar to both the Second Doctor's costume and the Nth Doctor's attire: he wears burgundy corduroy trousers, a black waistcoat, a burgundy bow tie, a white collarless shirt and a black double breasted short overcoat with walking boots. The outfit could be considered a strange hybrid of the resolutely practical and the eccentrically Doctorish, though if this is inbuilt persona (unlikely given the evidence of "Dark Impulses" or "The Last Stand") or learned behaviour from experience is unclear. In "The First Step", we see the Doctor don a version of his Dark Impulses outfit, with a blazer and different waistcoat to the Dark Impulses variant. From "Run" onwards he has a longer jacket that he wears over what seems to be his Dark Impulses look.
Equipment.[]
The only equipment the Doctor has been seen with are three sonic screwdrivers of unique design, all of which appear to give some sort of visual information display judging by the Doctor's use of them. The first is the Noir Doctor's screwdriver, which is visibly similar to the Tenth Doctor's. This was broken in "The First Step" by the Living Shadow. The second he is seen using is similar to the Dark Impulses variant, but with a different emitter. He is also seen in all four episodes to use a mobile telephone, this in itself being unusual for most Doctors: his use of a phone implies a certain familiarity with it's function.
